Built for the 997 & 987. Nothing else.

The 997 Chrono is a plug-and-play digital replacement for the factory Sports Chrono stopwatch, purpose-built for:

• Porsche 911 (997) — 2005 to 2012, including 997.1 and 997.2 GT3
• Porsche Boxster / Cayman (987) — 2005 to 2012

It reads live data straight from the car’s CAN bus and installs in under 30 minutes using the OEM Sports Chrono wiring — no splicing, no soldering, no wire taps, and 100% reversible. Your stopwatch goes in a drawer, not in the bin.

What’s in the box

• 997 Chrono display module — a 480 × 480 colour touchscreen, ready to fit into your Sports Chrono pod
• Fitting fillet for a clean, factory-look finish
• 128MB micro SD card — included in the price, for custom clock faces, splash screens and colours. Every display ships with one, preloaded with community-designed clock faces and splash screens to start you off.

Five display screens

Swipe between screens, tap the edges to change tiles, or navigate with the steering-column stalk. Every screen is fully configurable.

Analogue clock. Drawn from the car’s own time signal, with separate faces for lights-on and lights-off. Six faces are built in, and you can store up to 32 — load your own from the SD card or upload them from the companion app.

Tachometer & vitals. A circular tacho that scales for standard (0–8,000 rpm) and GT3 (0–9,000 rpm) cars, with green–amber–red shift lights near the bezel. Three assignable bars show live metrics — water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, battery voltage, boost and more — with speed, RPM, gear, engaged gear or calculated gear in the centre. Swap the bars for one large number if you prefer.

Temperature. Two large, colour-coded panels, each independently assignable. Low oil pressure and low battery voltage flash red to grab your attention, and the screen can open automatically when water or oil temperature crosses a threshold you set.

G-force. Live lateral and longitudinal G on a circular grid from the onboard 6-axis IMU, with an optional rolling peak-G track envelope and optional SD-card logging for later analysis.

TPMS. A top-down car outline with live pressure and temperature at all four corners, colour-coded for normal, warning and critical. Pairs with our Bluetooth TPMS sensors and jumps up automatically if a tyre drops below your threshold.

OEM-style lap timing

Keep the Sport Chrono experience you paid for. The display works with the car’s Sport Chrono controls and stalk for start, stop, reset, lap and interim splits — with a live stopwatch overlay to 10 ms resolution and a lap history of up to 99 laps.

Smart behaviours

• Shift lights — green, amber then flashing red over the last 1,000 rpm before your alert threshold, with an optional audible buzzer
• Day / night themes — light and dark themes and backlight level follow your sidelights or headlights, your choice
• Sport mode aware — jumps to your chosen screen when Sport is switched on or off
• Temperature alerts — switches to the temperature screen at thresholds you set
• Fully yours — custom splash screen, clock faces and a Porsche-inspired background palette (plus custom colours from SD)

Companion app & wireless updates

The display advertises over Bluetooth as 997 Chrono. The companion mobile app lets you view and change every setting, upload custom splash screens and clock faces, and push secure firmware updates over the air — with signed, encrypted packages, dual firmware banks for safe updating, and an on-screen Allow / Deny before any phone can make changes.

Optional OBD-II expansion (coming Q3 2026)

Connect an OBDLink CX over Bluetooth to add extra metrics on the RPM and Temperature bars — intake air temperature, engine load, mass air flow, manifold pressure, lambda and air/fuel ratio, and short/long fuel trim — with optional session logging to the SD card.

OBD-II expansion is built and working, and is in final testing now — it arrives in Q3 2026 as a free firmware update. Everything else described on this page is available today.
