Installation Guide

Fitting the 997 Chrono display takes under 30 minutes with two tools: a plastic trim removal tool and a T10 Torx screwdriver. No cutting, no soldering — the module plugs straight into the factory Sports Chrono loom.

Step 1 — Remove the Chrono pod

Protect the dash and the pod with a clean cloth before you start.

  1. Insert a pry bar between the pod and the dashboard, with a cloth protecting the dash.
  2. Lever enough space to get a thicker pry bar into the gap and pull upwards. Some pods are tighter than others — they need real force to lift vertically.
  3. Once one side starts to lift, do the same on the other side and remove the whole pod.
  4. Unclip the wiring loom.

Step 2 — Load custom images onto the SD card (optional)

Want your own splash screen or clock faces? Load them onto the included micro SD card now — the SD slot isn’t accessible once the module is installed in the pod.

  • Format the SD card as FAT32.
  • All images must be PNG files, 480 × 480 pixels. The display is round, so the corners won’t be visible.
  • Splash screen: save the file as SPLASH.PNG.
  • Clock faces: file names must start with C_ and be no more than 8 characters in total — for example C_MYCLK.PNG or C_CLCK1.PNG. They’ll appear in the clock selection dropdown in settings.

💡 Top tip — set it up on your desk first. The display can be powered from either USB-C port. It’s much easier to check your splash screen and clock faces out of the car before you install the module.

Step 3 — Install the module into the pod

  1. Remove the four T10 Torx screws from the lower casing of the pod and pull the lower part away.
  2. Remove the stopwatch gauge — keep it safe, the swap is 100% reversible.
  3. Fit the new module, lining up the top and bottom pins with the holes in the pod and lower frame.
  4. Start the screws but leave a little slack.
  5. Pop in the fillet between the screen and the pod — it takes a bit of wiggling and the part has a little flex.
  6. With the fillet in place, tighten all four screws.

Step 4 — Reinstall into the car

  1. Plug the factory wiring loom into the module harness.
  2. Turn on the ignition and check that the unit starts, showing time and temperatures.
  3. Without snagging the harness, push the pod back into its dashboard slots until it clicks home.
