These terms tell you who we are, how we’ll supply products to you, how you and we may change or end the contract, what to do if there’s a problem, and other important information. Please read them before ordering.
Last updated: 29 July 2026
The short version. Order from us and we’ll build, test and ship your display. If you change your mind you have 14 days by law and 90 days by our own policy. If something’s faulty we’ll put it right — your legal rights are unaffected by anything below. Fitting the product is your responsibility, but the product working properly is ours.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
We are ia2o Limited, trading as 997 Chrono, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 07127589. Our registered office and trading address is 57A Broadway, Leigh on Sea, Essex SS9 1PE, United Kingdom. Our VAT number is GB 109 1841 26.
You can contact us by email at info@997chrono.com or through our contact page. If we need to contact you, we’ll do so using the email address, postal address or phone number you gave us when ordering.
2. These terms
These are the terms on which we sell products to you. They apply to every order placed through 997chrono.com. By placing an order you confirm that you accept them.
If you are buying as a consumer (that is, for purposes wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession) you have legal rights that these terms do not affect. Where a term below conflicts with your statutory rights, your statutory rights win. Section 18 sets out the limited differences that apply if you are buying as a business.
3. Our products
The 997 Chrono display is a replacement for the factory Sports Chrono stopwatch fitted to the Porsche 911 (997) and Boxster / Cayman (987). It is your responsibility to check that a product is suitable for your vehicle before ordering. Compatibility details are set out on each product page and in our FAQs, and we’re happy to advise before you buy — just ask.
Product images and screen photographs are illustrative. Clock faces, splash screens and background colours shown may be user-created examples rather than items supplied with the product. Small variations in colour and finish can occur, and 3D-printed parts such as the sun visor carry a fine layer texture that is a normal characteristic of the process rather than a defect.
We develop the product continually and may change or improve firmware features. We will not make a change that materially reduces the functionality you paid for.
4. How we accept your order
After you place an order you’ll receive an acknowledgement email. That email confirms we have received your order — it does not mean we have accepted it. A contract is formed between us only when we dispatch the goods and confirm dispatch to you.
If we cannot accept your order — for example because an item is unavailable, because we’ve identified a pricing or description error, or because we can’t ship to your address — we’ll tell you and refund any payment in full.
5. Price and VAT
Prices are shown on the product pages excluding VAT. UK VAT at the prevailing rate is added at checkout for orders delivered within the United Kingdom. For orders delivered outside the UK, VAT is removed automatically once you enter your delivery address.
We take reasonable care to price correctly, but errors occasionally happen. If we discover an error in the price of what you’ve ordered, we’ll contact you before dispatch and you can choose to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
6. Payment
We accept card payments (including Visa, Mastercard and American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Link and Klarna — all handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Bank transfer is also available; where you pay by bank transfer we will dispatch once cleared funds are received.
Where you choose a buy-now-pay-later or instalment option, that credit agreement is between you and the provider (for example Klarna) and is subject to their terms and eligibility checks.
7. Delivery
Shipping is free to UK addresses. Overseas orders are charged at a flat rate of £30 to the USA and £20 to the rest of the world. Accessories ordered on their own ship at a lower rate, shown at checkout.
We aim to dispatch orders within two working days. If an item is on backorder we’ll tell you at checkout or as soon as we know, along with an expected date. Unless we agree otherwise with you, we will deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed. If we miss that deadline for reasons within our control you may treat the contract as ended and receive a full refund.
Goods are your responsibility from the time they are delivered to the address you gave us. You own them once we have received payment in full.
If nobody is available at your address and the goods can’t be posted through, the carrier will leave a note explaining how to rearrange delivery or collect. If, after a failed delivery, you don’t rearrange or collect, we may end the contract and charge reasonable costs for storage and return carriage.
8. International orders, duties and taxes
We ship worldwide. Orders delivered outside the United Kingdom may attract import duties, taxes and customs clearance fees on arrival. These are charged by the destination country, are outside our control, and are your responsibility — they are not included in the price or the shipping charge you pay us.
You are also responsible for ensuring that the product may lawfully be imported into, and used in, your country.
9. Changing your mind
Your legal right. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving a reason. That period ends 14 days after the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods. To cancel, just tell us clearly — an email to info@997chrono.com is enough.
Our additional promise. On top of that legal right, we offer a 90-day no-quibble return policy. If the display isn’t for you, send it back within 90 days of receipt and we’ll refund it. This is a voluntary policy offered in addition to — and never in place of — your statutory rights.
In both cases you pay the cost of returning the goods to us, unless the goods are faulty or not as described, in which case we cover it.
Please return goods complete and in a condition that allows resale. You may handle and inspect the product as you would in a shop, and fitting it to check it works is fine. If the value of the goods is reduced by handling beyond that — for example damage caused during installation, or a dashboard that has been cut for a retrofit — we may deduct a reasonable amount from your refund.
10. How to return something, and refunds
Contact us first and we’ll confirm where to send it and give you a reference. Return the goods without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of telling us you’re cancelling.
We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of you providing evidence that you’ve sent them, whichever is sooner. Where you cancel under your 14-day statutory right we also refund standard outbound delivery; if you chose a more expensive delivery option we refund the standard cost only.
For returns from outside the UK, please get in touch before sending anything and we’ll agree the arrangements with you.
11. Faulty goods, warranty and your legal rights
We provide a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery. If a product fails within that period through no fault of your own, contact us and we’ll repair or replace it. In most cases we’ll send a replacement out rather than have you wait.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, unauthorised modification of the hardware, or incorrect installation.
Your legal rights are separate from, and in addition to, this warranty. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If they are not, you have a short-term right to reject within 30 days, and rights to repair, replacement or a price reduction after that. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. For detailed advice, contact Citizens Advice.
12. Fitting the product
The 997 Chrono is an enthusiast product, made in small numbers for owners who are comfortable working on their own cars. It is a supplementary instrument, not a Porsche part and not a safety device — see section 14. If you are not comfortable fitting electronics to your own vehicle and accepting the risk that involves, please don’t buy it.
On cars fitted with the factory Sports Chrono option, installation is plug-and-play using the original wiring and is fully reversible. Even so, installation is carried out at your own risk and it is your responsibility to work safely and follow our installation guide. If you are not confident, please use a qualified auto electrician.
Airbags. The Sports Chrono pod sits on the dash top, near the passenger airbag. You must not obstruct the airbag, its cover or its deployment path, and you must make sure the pod is fully secure before driving. See our product disclaimer for the detail.
You are also responsible for checking that fitting and using the product complies with the law where you live and with the terms of your vehicle insurance, warranty or lease. Modifications may need to be declared to your insurer.
Retrofits are different. Fitting to a car without the Sports Chrono option requires cutting the dashboard and splicing into vehicle wiring. That work is irreversible and is entirely at your own risk. We provide guidance in good faith, but we are not responsible for damage to your vehicle arising from retrofit work, and a dashboard that has been cut cannot be un-cut.
Please also read our product disclaimer. Nothing in this section or that disclaimer excludes our responsibility for a product that is itself faulty, or affects your statutory rights.
13. Firmware, software and content you upload
The firmware and software in the product remain our intellectual property. When you buy a product you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that software as part of the product. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile or redistribute it except where the law allows.
Firmware updates are provided free of charge. We aim to keep supporting the product for as long as is reasonably practicable, but we don’t guarantee that any particular future feature will be released by a particular date.
The product lets you load your own clock faces, splash screens and background images. You are responsible for the content you upload and for ensuring it does not infringe anyone’s copyright or trade marks. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, what a user chooses to display on their unit.
14. Our responsibility for loss or damage
If we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability to you in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of your legal rights in relation to the products, and for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, damage or injury caused by: installation or removal carried out by you or on your behalf; failure to follow our instructions, guides or warnings; use of the product in a way we have not recommended; modification of the hardware; obstructing or interfering with your vehicle’s airbags; or continuing to drive when the display, or your vehicle’s own instruments, indicate a fault.
The display is a supplementary instrument: it does not replace your vehicle’s own warning systems, and you should not rely on it alone.
15. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as carrier disruption, customs delays, component shortages or extreme weather. If such an event occurs we’ll contact you as soon as possible and take steps to minimise the delay. If the delay is substantial you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for anything not delivered.
16. Your information
We use your personal information only as set out in our privacy policy. We never sell your data.
17. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please tell us at info@997chrono.com — we’re a small business and we’d much rather hear from you and fix it. We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days.
18. Other important terms
- Business customers. If you are buying in the course of a business, the consumer cancellation right in section 9 and the consumer rights in section 11 do not apply. In that case our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the price you paid for the goods, and we exclude liability for loss of profit, loss of use or indirect loss. Our 90-day return policy and one-year warranty are still offered as a matter of goodwill.
- Transferring the contract. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, and will tell you in writing if we do. You may transfer your warranty to a person who acquires the product from you.
- Third parties. This contract is between you and us. No other person has any rights to enforce it.
- Severance. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful, the remaining paragraphs continue in full force.
- Delay is not waiver. If we delay in enforcing any part of this contract, that does not prevent us enforcing it later.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU as a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
