Can it show what gear I’m in?

On Tiptronic and PDK cars, yes — gear is transmitted directly on the CANBUS. On manual cars the gear isn’t available on the bus, but it can be calculated from speed, RPM and rolling radius. That works reliably on a standard car; if the final drive, gear ratios or tyre rolling radius have been changed significantly, the calculated gear will be wrong.
